From a third point of view, the narrator summarized of the girl (Kate) who lived in the Waste, a boy who had burned alive, a shattered violin, a stranger being shot and a new monster being born (Alice). The new monster began walking towards Sloan who lie on the ground of the warehouse, dying. The new monster approached Sloan and removed the weapon from his (Sloan's) back, watching spitting blood onto the ground.

"He knew that his maker was dead.

And she knew that hers was not.

Not yet."
